SAFESPORT / BACKGROUND SCREENING

SAFESPORT CERTIFICATION 

All Boat Captains, Advisors, and Official Observers will need to be SafeSport Certified. This will start for the 2019-2020 season.

INFORMATION ON SAFESPORT 

The Safe Sport Act, which expands existing mandated youth abuse reporting laws and requires abuse awareness training for youth sports organizations.  You will be able to take the test through the SportsEngine Company. This will help answer some question regarding what was signed into Law. 

You can all read the THSBA rules to see exactly how this new Law will be part of the Texas High School Bass Association this season. The rules can be found on our website under rules or you can click here.   

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING

Background checks need to be completed for all Boat Captains, Advisers, and Official Observers. These background checks will need to be kept in the adviser’s files. The background checks can be done by the school the team is from or any online background source. Sportsengine has a background program set up for THSBA. Teams are not required to use THSBA provided Sportsengine for their background checks.

Click on the link. Log into your account from get your Safesport certificate or set up a new account. After you have done that just walk through the steps. Fee for a background check is $25.

It is the goal of the Texas High School Bass Association to provide a venue where high school students have the opportunity to compete in organized tournaments while establishing strict guide lines and academic standards that will allow our student anglers to excel in the class room and on the lake.
